How I Get Over Blank Page Syndrome

Stimulate your mind

I have figured out that (my) mind needs just a little stimulation to come up with interesting content (urgh! ‘Content’ has been given such a cheap connotation because of its usage. ‘Ideas’ is too common. I guess I will have to invent a new word to replace the word content).

The stimulation could come from any source. For me, books, nature, music, podcasts, documentaries, memories, anything works. These things inspire me, propel me to write and express my views.

I guess, when mind gets stimulated the neuron starts getting active and the mind starts connecting dots.

These days, there are so many tools available online that help you generate ideas on the basis of a noun. For eg. when I entered Tennis in the Ideas-Generator on Hubspot, it came up with five blog post ideas around Tennis. See the screenshot below:

This isn’t bad either. But it feels artificial, superficial.

I prefer reading, listening, watching, and observing and the ideas start to flow on its own accord. I try to give lesser weightage to what people or readers want to read and more to what is flowing from me, what needs an outlet.

What is your way of getting inspired to write?

How do you come up with ideas?
