Same has been the case with me and my response was similar.

My mother always used to tell me that I write decent enough and I should publish it but I didn’t feel like putting it out there. Well, that was couple of years ago but now the hesitancy is slowly fading away and I am ready to expose myself (read showcase my writing in front of people)
