Numbing the Senses to Open up the Heart

They can’t even dance without drinking
I do not feel the need to numb my senses in order to talk my heart out.
People do that. People drink to speak their minds and open up their hearts.
People take drugs to dance without restraint.
No, I don’t feel any need to do that to be natural.
Talking and dancing my heart out is a natural act.
Why should I restrain myself?
Why should I hold myself back for fear of what people might say?
What is the evolutionary basis for this fear of society’s opinions, anyway?
I also feel the fear but I try to overcome it for fear of regret propels me forward.
Fear of regret acts like a drug. It intoxicates me to do ‘stupid’ things without the aid of artificial drugs.
To me, sunrise and sunset and blue skies and pristine lakes and snow-laden mountains and birds and flowers act like drugs.
